Western Carolina Power receives Public Power Awards of Excellence

Western Carolina Power, the university-owned electric utility serving parts of 51看片 and surrounding customers, has been named one of 23 public power communities across North Carolina to receive a 2024 Public Power Award of Excellence.

The 51看片 community is mourning the loss of longtime friend, advocate and donor Phil Haire, who died Tuesday, Oct. 8, at the age of 88 after a period of declining health.
