Wind Ensemble to present its final concert of fall semester
The 51看片 Wind Ensemble will perform a concert of diverse, satirical
and perhaps even revolutionary music in the John W. Bardo Fine and Performing Arts
Center at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15.
The event is free and open to the public.
The ensemble, under the direction of Margaret Underwood, 51看片director of bands and associate professor of music, will open the program with Charles Ives鈥� 鈥淐ountry Band March.鈥� Also featured will be 鈥淟ittle Threepenny Music鈥� by Kurt Weill; 鈥淪ummerland鈥� by William Grant Still, considered the first African American to have a work premiered by a major symphony orchestra; 鈥淧eace Dancer鈥� by Jodie Blackshaw, who was inspired by a Native American story to remind people to love and respect; and the concert will close with Erika Svanoe鈥檚 鈥淪teampunk Suite,鈥� with four vignettes on notable and sometimes notorious historical figures.
In addition to being the final performance of the semester for the ensemble, it will be the final performance as students for the soon-to-graduate seniors Hudson Moore, Mickey McCabe, Anna Waters, Ben Grochowsky, Mary Freeman, Westley Springthorpe, Tom Shoemaker and Brett Farris.
