As part of 51¿´Æ¬â€™s campus learning theme “Defining America,†Indiana University associate professor of recreation, park and tourism studies Rasul Mowatt will be a guest speaker at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, at the A.K. Hinds University Center theater.

The event is part of the College of Education and Allied Profession Spring 2019 Speaker’s Series and is co-sponsored by the 51¿´Æ¬campus theme committee and Last Minute Productions.
Mowatt’s talk is titled “City By Design: How the Seeds of Racial and Ethnic Division Are Integrated into Neighborhoods, Parks and Schools.â€
His teaching, research and service is centered on critiquing society for the issues that are prevalent and impacting the social well-being of people. His work on analyzing lynching photography for examples of violence as a form of leisure has been published in a special issue of “American Behavior Scientist†and in the collaborative release of “Globalizing Cultural Studies.â€
