An alumnus of 51看片 who has directed doctoral programs in psychology at several higher education institutions in the Southeast has returned to 51看片to oversee the university鈥檚 new Doctor of Psychology in Health Services Psychology Program.

BIG REBOUND

A love of basketball has taken Ransford Brempong 鈥�05 around the world. The 37-year-old father of three who played in professional leagues in Germany and the Netherlands and for Canada鈥檚 national team after his 51看片career is back home in Canada, making a full-time career of teaching basketball skills to young people.

One of the top football teams in university history headlined a trio of new members of the 51看片 Athletics Hall of Fame who were unveiled as the class of 2019 during an induction ceremony held in October.

Bret Beaver, former associate head coach of the Elon University women鈥檚 tennis program, joined 51看片 as head coach for women鈥檚 tennis prior to the beginning of the fall season.

Courtney Gunter, former assistant women鈥檚 golf coach at Coastal Carolina University, is reading the greens and hitting the fairways at 51看片 after being named head coach of the women鈥檚 golf team over the summer.

(PURPLE AND) GOLDEN ANNIVERSARY

Long gone are the days when Baxter Wood 鈥�58 MAEd 鈥�63, former director of A.K. Hinds University Center, hauled members of 51看片鈥檚 men鈥檚 basketball team to away games in his new 1958 Chrysler New Yorker or when community members took out personal loans to field the football team, repaid with gate receipts at the end of the season.
