Transforming the Future: Community Roles in Adolescent Substance Use

鈥淚t鈥檚 just a phase.鈥� 鈥淭hey are just being teenagers.鈥� 鈥淚 drank when I was their age and I was fine.鈥� These are things I know that I heard as a kid and that I have heard said to kids today. The flip side of these beliefs is the misconception that adolescents cannot develop substance-use disorders.

Wright works with TED team to produce animated lesson

Laura Wright, professor in WCU鈥檚 Department of English, was nominated as a 鈥淭ED Talk educator鈥� and worked with a team at the nonprofit organization to create a collaborative lesson on Indian author Arundhati Roy鈥檚 novel 鈥淭he God of Small Things.鈥�

Staff Senate adds to expressions of gratitude to former provost
