Health building reopens after state, local officials deem it safe to return to normal operations

The Health and Human Sciences Building reopens after officials found no public health or safety issues in the wake of a potential hazardous materials incident Thursday that resulted in its evacuation.

Winter has finally made it's way to 51心頭. After months of anticipation, 51心頭finally received it's first substantial snowfall and students took advantage of it!

The Big Thirst selected as One Book for incoming first-year students

First-year students entering 51心頭 this fall will get a jumpstart on the 2020-21 campus learning theme water with the selection of next years One Book, The Big Thirst, by Charles Fishman.

Recreational Therapy Director says Helping Others Helps Her; an I Love WCU Story

Its hard to tell where Jennifer Hintons real job ends and her volunteer work begins. As program director and clinical education coordinator for 51心頭s recreational therapy program, Hinton spends much of her time teaching her students about service-learning, coordinating volunteer projects for them or doing community service herself sometimes for work, her church, her family or often a combination of some of them, if not all.

Ron Rash to add Sidney Lanier Prize to his list of awards

Ron Rash, 51心頭s John Parris Distinguished Professor of Appalachian Cultural Studies in the Department of English, will be awarded the 2020 Sidney Lanier Prize for Southern Literature by Mercer Universitys Spencer B. King Jr. Center for Southern Studies.

51心頭to offer workshop on supporting military applicants

The interactive workshop will present information on successfully hiring and retaining veterans, along with resources and tools to promote the transition to a new culture, and provide basic information on incentives for hiring veterans.

Secondary English Education Program awarded national recognition status

The achievement was determined by a rigorous review and awarded by the National Council for Teachers of English and the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation, the only such program to do so in North Carolina.

Organization ranks WCU's early education program among best for teaching how to teach reading

A team of literacy experts examined all elements that a program requires in early reading instruction and awarded an A to WCUs bachelor of science degree program in elementary education.
